The 8181 features clean lines and simple construction with our classic round toe styling. The style provides the durability of a work boot with the clean toe profile of a classic oxford. Hawthorne Muleskinner leather, white traction tread sole, speed hooks for easier lacing, triple stitched quality and Goodyear welt construction.

The History Behind the style.

First developed for farmers, Red Wing introduced the 6-inch round toe work boot in 1919. The combination of two traditional styles, round toe boots provided the comfort of an oxford with the durability of a work boot. The key difference in the new style was the round toe design, eliminating a seam by using one larger piece of leather versus the previous practice of sewing together two smaller leather pieces. This created a more durable boot, as any seam is by design, a weaker part of a boot. Our classic round toe boot is a blend of functional design, toughness, and comfort, attributes found in all Red Wing products.
