Fred Perry established his brand in the late 1940s when he and Austrian footballer Tibby Wegner joined forces. Together they created the first ever sweatband for tennis players which quickly became a popular piece of tennis equipment across the UK. In 1952 they launched the infamous 'slim fit cotton pique shirt' with laurel wreath embroidery. Today, Fred Perry embraces its heritage by adhering to its most famous, influential and classic styles but also continues to attract new generations. Fred Perry has become synonymous with music and youth culture and through this remains on the forefront of popular fashion.
